Favourite LA Eateries

I've blogged about a few of these places before but thought I would put them all into one list. Here are some of my favourite places to eat in Los Angeles. This city has completely stolen my heart and there is so many incredible healthy places to eat at. American food isn't all bad!

Wholefoods Market

I can't go past walking into a whole foods store. I am a whole foods nerd and could literally spend hours in these stores seeing all the amazing ingredients they have. Their hot foods & salads bar is a haven for easy and quick healthy meals. Pair that with a fresh juice and a raw cake and I'm set for the day.

Pont De l'Arche || France

#31daysofMNB || France

Bonjour!!

I visited the Sunday farmers markets with Abbies french sister Clem in Pont De l'Arche which is a gorgeous medieval town about one hour from Paris. I love to visit markets and supermarkets when I'm in different countries and buy all the different food that is available. I'm a bit of a nerd because you'll usually find me in a supermarket as opposed to buying clothes like any other normal girl!

The markets I visited were so cute and the smell of freshly baked baguettes constantly fill the air in Pont De l'Arche. Everyone had a baguette in their hand and there was so much fresh product to choose from. France is full of sunshine & beautiful food, I love it here and wish so much that Abbie was with me.

I think that visiting markets and buying fresh fruit especially is such a good way to sneak in healthy snacks while you are travelling. It is also perfect to try all the different things that are available in other countries- there are so many gorgeous stone fruit & berries in France at the moment which I have been devouring, luckily to distract me from all the breads, pastries and Nutella covered anything & everything that they have here at every corner.

Mint tea at the markets

Cheese cheese cheese and more cheese. Protein, anyone?!

Casa e Bottega: Positano

#31daysofMNB:: Positano

Casa e Bottega- Via Pasitea, 100, 84017 Positano, Italy

I discovered the most charming organic cafe in Positano yesterday which I went to for breakfast and lunch and am about to go back this morning for my last Positano meal!

The cafe itself is a combination of food & design and  has such a fresh feeling as soon as you walk through the doors. It is filled with crisp white interiors and gorgeous Italian home wares and ceramics which are also available for purchase. I really loved the set up of Cafe e Bottega which has an open bench kitchen down the back, where sat the home made tarts and cakes of the day: pear and chocolate, flourless chocolate, chocolate and almond, lemon cheescake , all made with local organic and fresh ingredients.

I am so glad I found this hidden gem in Positano. There is a lot of heavy and traditional Italian food here and Case e Bottega has a light, fresh and healthy menu which is really something else. The owner, Tanina Vanacore is a real master chef and is such a nice lady. She also owns another restaurant here in Positano and at Casa e Bottega, prepares the food in the open kitchen of healthy salads, sandwiches and fruit smoothies.

For breakfast I had the most beautifully prepared fruit salad and for lunch I had a salad of rocket, salmon, melon, avocado & feta with olive oil dressing. I also tried the organic chocolate and almond caprese cake which was so delicate and perfect.

Postcards from Barcelona

#31daysofMNB :: Barcelona

I don't even know where to begin with this incredibly crazy city!! Barcelona is so much fun- it is so colourful & lively. In Barcelona I met with Abbie's friend Clem who flew in from France and we had a whirlwind three days, spending time in Barcelona city visiting markets & cafes and then also heading up to Roses and Cadaques, a small beach town about two hours from Barcelona. It is also the home of Salvador Dali which was fascinating for me as I just love art and spent so much time throughout high school studying his works.

I found Barcelona really cheap and accessible. The metro is really easy to use and people are very friendly. There are some amazing salad buffets around the centre and lots of fresh juice and fruits everywhere you go.

I was really looking forward to visiting the markets on Las Ramblas in Barcelona and it truly lived up to every expectation. The markets are overflowing with fresh fruits and juices, lollies, vegetables, seafood, meat, dried fruits and nuts but their fruits section left me utterly speechless!! For a container of fruit it is €1-€2 and the juices are about the same. It's super fresh and cheap and is such an incredible atmosphere to be in.

I've been feeling really unwell the past few days having picked up a sort of flu virus somewhere along my travels (boo!!) so have been stocking up on as much fresh food as I can. I had a lemon and lime juice and went back the next day to try the coconut and pineapple juice.

It is so easy to keep fit and active in a city like this as there are so many places to see and I think the easiest way to see the most of the city is by foot. I did a walking tour of the city which was so much fun  and a great way to meet new people and really learn about the history of the places you are visiting. I found myself walking for hours each day without even thinking about it. It rained in Barcelona on our first day which didn't stop us from running around the centre and soaking up all of the incredible works of Gaudi and the beautiful architecture that fills the city.

Tomorrow morning I head to Positano on the Amalfi Coast as reccomended by Abbie for some rest & relaxation! Hopefully the sunshine and beach gets rid of my sickness!
