Singapore || #31daysofMNB

I arrived in Singapore on Sunday afternoon to 30 degrees and sunshine and met with my friends. From Auckland, it took 14 hours to get here with a two hour stop over in Melbourne. With a 3am wake up call on Sunday morning, I packed with me a tonne of snacks to have which I knew I had to eat up before I left the plane in Melbourne as I didn't want to bother with declaring anything. I opted for nuts, carrot sticks, eggs, water, salmon, melon, cheese sticks, bean & avocado salad & sugar free chocolate and had this while being in a freezing daze on the plane.

When I got to Melbourne airport, I was starving (as always) and had an amazing omelette at MoVida and also got them to pack me two salads for Melbourne -> Singapore.

It's pretty shocking to see the food they have available on planes and at airports. They are all deep fried or greasy, covered in pastry and all the "healthy" options like muesli and yoghurts as always are jam packed with a tonne of sugar. What's even worse is the airline menu which has absolutely nothing healthy aside from a packed of salted nuts!! Lucky I purchased food at Melbourne airport before I took off!! I was so sad to be back on Melbourne soil and not have been able to leave the airport to go and see Abbie!!

On my first night in Singapore I had some traditional local food which is not known to be very healthy at all but found some amazing vegetable & grilled meat options on Arab St where there is a lot of amazing Turkish cuisine that all smells so incredible.

I am lucky enough to be staying at the Marina Bay Sands hotel which has been a dream of mine ever since I first saw it on Tumblr and re blogged the photo of their infamous rooftop infinity pool far too many times!

On day 2, I woke up super early (thanks time difference) and went for a wander to the wet markets where I had an amazing fish soup at my friends stall. I sat there and sweated my way through the whole bowl, filled with fish broth, silk tofu,  steamed fresh fish, bok choy and chilli which was an absolute dream!! My highlight of these markets was definitely the fruit stalls which are just incredible. No vegetables in sight but every tropical fruit you could have ever dreamed off and it's safe to safe I was definitely in my element. The shop keeper asked where I was from and after telling him New Zealand, he tried many a time to convince me to buy some New Zealand kiwi fruit but I walked away with having tried nearly every fruit in his shop, yellow watermelon, dragon fruit (the prettiest fruit in the world), mangosteen, mangos, and starfruit which I enjoyed back at the hotel in the sunshine by the pool.

The Marina Bay Sands hotel is one of a kind and their facilities and service is impeccable. I went for an early morning gym session at 6 today (thanks again, time difference) and watched the sunrise while doing sprints on the treadmill. They also do morning yoga and have a tonne of different cardio machines and Kinesis. I did my sprints and a quick kinesis circuit, jumped in the sauna, steam room and pool and ran away with one of their complimentary apples and water. I am truly in heaven and feeling so lucky to be here!!

#nofilterneeded @ The Marina Bay Sands

Workouts don't need to be long and especially when you are travelling as you want to have time to fit as much as you can in your day- I did hill sprints for 15 minutes @ 16km p/h with one minute on, one minute off and then a circuit of sqauts on the kinesis machine, leg raises, burpees and jackknives which all took me a total of 35 minutes.

I am now sitting inside the biggest mall EVER which is next to the Marina Bay Sands and while I was going to opt for scrambled eggs this morning, I went out on a whim and decided to have something more traditional. There are only a few food stalls open this early for breakfast out of the many stands here in the food court. One of them being a hakka yong tau stall which is a Chinese soup. You choose 6-7 items from the buffet which range from spinach & bok choy, to chillis stuffed with tofu, mushrooms of all kinds, boiled eggs & noodles and then they pop it all in a soup for you. In China & most Asian countries, it is pretty normal to have steamed pork dumplings & the like for breakfast. I chose boiled eggs, spinach, bok choy, corriander, sasguage and 3 different types of mushrooms and had it in my chicken broth without noodles. I am about to burst but am feeling so satisfied!!

I am patiently waiting for the juice stand to open which I saw has a celery juice and avocado juice and where you can also buy fruit skewers. I  hope Zara and the ice skating rink open soon too!! Wake up Singapore haha!

Tomorrow I head to Kuala  Lumpar for a few days to see my cousin and then onto Europe!! :)
