Quintessence- East Village, NYC

Quintessence Raw Vegan food in East Village, New York City

This little gem of a cafe is tucked well into the East Village on E 10th street where a very lucky friend of mine just moved into.

I had a lunch combo at Quintessence of Raw Tacos ($12) of two crispy tacos filled with refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, pickled jalapeno, sour cream and nut meat served with hot sauce while my friends tucked into the raw ravioli (nut cheese inside paper thin turnips served with pesto- $12), Raw California Pizza ("cheddar cheese", avocado, olives, sprouts, caramelised onions and sour creme- $14) and Soup of the day ($6) served with Kamut Bread ($2.50)

Reasonably priced and offering so many different alternatives as well as a hard to choose from menu with it's own "cooked" section, I really enjoyed this little cafe lunch on this sunny New York afternoon.

Just where this cafe is located also sits Jennifers Way Bakery, a gluten free, refined sugar free, dairy free, nut, free, soy free bakery and Juice Press, offering raw takeout foods and freshly pressed organic juices and smoothies.
